With respect to “Climate Change”, this website and my contribution to the discussion focuses on the data. I have a standing request/challenge to anyone (scientist or not) to provide an empirical Temperature/CO2 data set that shows CO2 driving the climate on any statistically significant historical time scale. Scientific proof requires empirical data. The Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming (CAGW) theory does not have that empirical data (because that data does not exist).

CSS-20 This Climate Short Story reviews a recent video put forward by Dr. John Robson through his Climate Discussion Nexus platform. The “Looking At The Sun” video discusses recent Total Solar Irradiance (TSI) levels with a focus on the implications of a gap in the Active Cavity Radiometer Irradiance Monitor (ACRIM) satellite data. Normally when satellite equipment is changed out, the measurements are overlapped so that the two satellite recorders can be calibrated to one another. The Challenger Space Shuttle catastrophe disrupted the satellite launch schedule leaving a two year plus gap in the ACRIM data. Using the ERB data from the Nimbus-7 satellite, Richard Willson (Lead Scientist on the ACRIM project) put together a TSI composite that estimated the TSI through the gap. Cue the CAGW alarmist crowd Claus Frohlich/Judith Lean (the PMOD team) that could not let the data show a TSI increase that correlates with the temperature increase from the late 1970s to the late 1990s. That might suggest that the sun could be playing a role in global temperature increases. That does not fit the narrative and must be beat back immediately.

I found the discussion interesting for a couple of reasons. Firstly, this is just another example of the dis and mis information that is common with the CAGW alarmist crowd that reflects the same general technique used to rampantly manipulate surface temperatures (i.e.: homogenization). You Fact Checkers should take note. This process ignores the Scientific Method (where theories (or in the CAGW alarmist case, narratives) should be adjusted to fit the data). In the CAGW alarmist’s Virtual Reality world, the data is continually changed (i.e.: homogenized) to fit the “Narrative”. Science is in deep trouble until our policy makers start to follow the Scientific Method rather than following “the science” (from whatever ideological source fits their fantasies). Secondly, I was unaware of the ACRIM gap and have been using the TSI data conforming to the PMOD alarmist composite. If the Willson TSI composite is correct, that will just help my arguments with respect to climate change. CO2 is still a FECKLESS GreenHouse Gas (CSS-7) regardless of which composite may or may not be correct. I do not plan to change my TSI data source (the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) in Boulder, Colorado). The Willson composite (while helpful) is not required for the climate realist position.

John Robson’s work is well worth reading/watching. His mix of technical and humor makes for easy, entertaining reads/views. The video link is included below, followed by the Climate Discussion Nexus website.

  • I think this is among the most vital information for me. And i am glad reading your article. But wanna remark on few general things, The web site style is ideal, the articles is really great : D. Good job, cheers
