Northern Hemisphere Snow
OPS-15 Just a quick summary to show the Northern Hemisphere snow trends and add to the discussion in OPS-13. Despite the doomsday predictions of no snow for our grandchildren, they can still expect a White Christmas (as often as they occur now and probably more). You can go to Global Cryosphere Watch to see the snow events for South America (a little lower than normal) and Australia (a little higher than normal). There is far less land mass in the southern hemisphere so they don’t monitor the snow extent as closely. The last statement obviously doesn’t include Antarctica which is consistently covered with snow/ice. And which according to a NASA study, added 1.4 trillion tons of ice from 1992 to 2003. Not an easy accomplishment considering all that “Global Warming” we’re supposedly experiencing.
